Ask Me Anything > What do you want to know about laundry?

We Wash over 2000 Pounds of Laundry a Week! There isn't a day that goes by where I don't get some kind of question asked to me about laundry... So, I've decided to start an open forum for anybody to ask questions and get answers from someone who does more laundry in a one week than most people do in a whole year.

I always wash my socks but they never seem to look clean and white. Is there anything I can do?

Embedded dirt in socks is a big problem! I have this very same problem because I like to walk around my house in just stocking feet. Getting them to look as "white as new" can be difficult! First off make sure that your socks are turned right side out be fore washing them. Then your best bet it to use a quality cleaning soap, chlorine bleach (a good amount of it, like 1/2- 3/4 cup) HOT water and oxy clean. We've found Tide is the best of all the detergents as far as stain removal goes. Too much soap or poor quality soap (ECOS Magnolia & Lily is by FAR the worst soap on the market) can also cause clothes to look dingy and unclean. But truthfully, once the dirt gets embedded in socks its very difficult to get out. I opted for a pair of slippers that I walk around in now, to protect my socks from dirt! Good Luck!
